Alot has been said and alot will be said about the racist attacks on Indians in Australia.
I condemn it. I strongly do.
At the same time i think its time to look within too.
We aren't really the best country either. I'm a very proud Indian and always will be, but each of us have our own bias.
Look at the hindu-muslim divide that we still have. Even after so many years of independence a majority of people still look down on them. I have so many muslim friends and i think they are just great. Amazing people.
We look at a fat man/woman on the road, we mock at them. 'Look at that fatso walking'.. Isn't this racist?..
We look at a dark man, 'oh my god! He is so dark.'
We look at poverty all around. 'Its not my problem'.
We look and we look.
We mock and we mock.
For me a racist is not someone who discriminates on the basis of color, but one who has this 'i don't care attitude', which i'm very sorry to say, each of us do.
When was the last time you did something for ur country?..
How many actually voted?.. People are so busy making money and complaining about all things that are wrong. How many of them have actually done something about it?..
We talk about the Obama age and 'yes we can'. But have we really done anything?..
The next time you mock someone, just take a deep look within. You would have found yourself been a target sometime or the other too.
